Okemiri said in Lagos that the African regional qualifiers for the championship would hold from April 10 to April 14 in Casablanca, Morocco.
He added that the World Cup would hold between Sept. 18 and Sept. 28 in Tahiti, a French island colony in the southern Pacific Ocean.
The player said he was confident because the country had formidable players that could qualify the nation for the World Cup.
“I strongly believe my team mates and we will qualify from the African regional qualifiers to represent the country at the World Cup,” he said.
According to him, the team would build on its success at the last Copa Lagos competition to ensure its qualification for the World Cup from the African qualifiers.
“Our performance at the last Copa Lagos tournament will spur us to ensure qualification for the World Cup,” Okemiri said.
He added that after its qualification, the team would embark on a series of friendlies, overseas training and matches, ahead of the World Cup tournament.
Okemiri, however, urged the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to give all necessary support to the team to ensure its qualification.
