Lewandowski exit no longer an issue, insists Kehl

The BVB skipper is confident that the Poland striker will continue to give his all for the club and has rued Mario Gotze's decision to join Bayern Munich

Borussia Dortmund skipper Sebastian Kehl has insisted that Robert Lewandowski's potential departure this summer is no longer an issue for the Bundesliga side.

The Poland international was widely expected to join Bayern Munich ahead of the 2013-14 campaign, until Dortmund vetoed a move to the Champions League winners.

Much has since been said about the 24-year-old's future, but Kehl has stressed that the chapter has now been closed at last.

"Robert Lewandowski's situation is no longer an issue," Kehl was quoted as saying by Bild

"He has already said last year that he will deal with the situation like a professional. He will give his all for Borussia Dortmund."

Kehl then went on to discuss Mario Gotze's transfer to Bayern Munich and stated that the attacking midfielder would have been better off staying at BVB for at least one more season.

"I believe that Dortmund and Bayern have grown closer together in the past few years from a sporting point of view. It would not have hurt Mario to stay put for one or two more seasons.

"Of course, it hurt a lot when I heard about his decision. It took me by complete surprise.

"The transfer gives us a lot of opportunities, though, and we will have to make use of it in a creative way. The team remains stable and will not be worse than last year. I even think that we will be better."

Dortmund have recently been linked with Henrik Mkhitaryan, Christian Eriksen and Kevin De Bruyne in their search for a replacement for Gotze.

Chris Brown Charged With Criminal Hit-and-Run, Calls Case "Ridiculous"

Chris Brown
The charges stem from a minor accident last month in which Chris rear-ended a Benz and allegedly provided false or inadequate info to the owner.

Brown, officials believe, refused to give his driver's license number and gave false insurance information to the other driver in the accident.

He has also been charged with the crime of driving without a valid license; the offenses are punishable by a maximum of six months in jail for each.

The charges of hit-and-run - for leaving the scene without exchanging proper information - did not sit well with Brown, who just responded on Twitter:

"It's not a hit and run if u get out the car, exchange information (who has NO DAMAGE to either cars). This is really ridiculous," wrote the befuddled star.

Brown, who also faced false accusations that he assaulted a girl at a club this week, has changed his profile picture to the girl's car he allegedly hit.

GREEDY!!? "I Can Never Sacrifice My Happiness For Anybody" - Chika Ike

I am Chika Ike, an actress. I read Human Kinetics and Health education. This discipline deals with the body movement. It teaches a lot of sports and sports blends well with entertainment. Personally, it has helped me know how not to grow fat!

Aside acting
I run boutiques. I love fashion and I love to embrace the trends. Fashion and entertainment go hand in hand.

Life on the screen
All my movies come with their own challenges. This is because playing someone out of your character is challenging. There was a movie where I played with a snake. The snake felt cold and heavy and it kept coiling around my body. The first day I carried it, I could not sleep well and kept dreaming of snakes. I got over it and started working with it. There was another where I had to shave my hair. It was rumoured that I collected N5m for that job. I believe I should have asked for more. The amount was not enough because my hair is worth more than N30m. All I know is that it was a high-budget movie and it was the producer who decided that he wanted to make a mark with it- it was his first. He did the movie for his archive and for posterity. He spent a lot of money and even burnt a whole car in the movie. Honestly, I don’t care what people say about the N5m fee. You cannot always convince everybody but as long as you are able to convince yourself, nobody else matters.

Relationship
I would not want to talk about the experience with early marriage and spousal abuse. When you get married, things happen along the line and you ask yourself if it is something you can take. Everybody has their share of experience in marriage. I don’t like talking about it because I’m trying to get over it. The next man I will marry? I am not sure I am going to get married now  but if I eventually do, I will just let go and allow God to guide me. But if it does not work out, happiness is all that matters. I cannot sacrifice my happiness for anybody.

Heartbreaks
None. I must have broken some hearts as a teenager but nobody broke mine.  At that age, I tried not to be in any relationship whatsoever. I was focused on my studies because of my parents.

Foundation
It is called ‘Chika help the child foundation’ and the focus is on giving life and a new beginning to children on the streets. I grew up in an environment where children did not have enough and were exposed to a lot of challenges such as rape, lack of quality education and food. I did not have much luxury either. I had a very humble beginning but my parents could afford quality education, food and clothing for me.  I saw my mother helping these kids, cooking for them and paying some of their school fees. I saw how they struggled to feed and I made up my mind that when I grow up, I would take up a cause where I can reach out to children on the streets. I have felt their pain as a young girl.

Keshi focuses on CHAN as Eagles exit Confederations Cup

Stephen Keshi
Super Eagles Head Coach, Stephen Keshi, has turned his attention to the Championship of Africa Nations (CHAN) following the country’s exit from the ongoing 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup tournament in Brazil on Sunday.

The forthcoming CHAN is scheduled for early next year in South Africa and is meant for players in the domestic leagues of African countries.

Nigeria has failed to qualify for the championship on two occasions since it was introduced by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in 2009.

Keshi, in a statement by Super Eagles Media Officer, Ben Alaiya, said he would ensure that the country qualifies for the championship for the first time.

“We will go back home, take a few days rest and prepare for our CHAN qualifying match against Cote d’Ivoire in the coming days and hopefully, we should be able to make it through,’’ the statement quoted Keshi as saying.

NAN reports that the Super Eagles will host the Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire between July 6 and 7 in the first leg of a two-leg qualifying fixture.

The return leg will come up in Abidjan, Cote d’ Ivoire, between July 27 and July 28.

NAN recalls that the Super Eagles 0-3 loss to Spain in the team’s last group game on Sunday led to its exit from the ongoing FIFA Confederations Cup.

Manchester United in battle with Barcelona over Thiago Alcântara ..

Thiago Alcantara

The 22-year-old's father Mazinho met with Barcelona president Sandro Rosell on Friday to discuss the prospect of an improved contract at Camp Nou.

Manchester United's hopes of signing Thiago Alcantara are in doubt after the
midfielder was given assurances of an improved deal by Barcelona.

The 22-year-old's father Mazinho met with the Spanish club's
president Sandro Rosell on Friday, when the prospect of a revised
contract was discussed, so Thiago now has a concrete offer which
would allow him to remain at Barcelona.

But the Spaniard could still opt to join United in a move worth
just €18 million after the value of his release clause plummeted
having failed to participate for a stipulated amount of minutes in
2012-13.

Reports in Spain have suggested that the youngster is unhappy with
a lack of playing time at Camp Nou and is concerned that a lack of
improvement regarding his squad status will jeopardise his chances
of featuring at next summer's World Cup with Vicente del Bosque's
Spain side.

The midfielder has not publicly expressed his desire to move clubs
this summer but he insisted through Spain's Under-21s European
Championship campaign that his future will be addressed after the
tournament.

Thiago was one of Spain's standout players in Israel and his
hat-trick helped Julen Lopetegui's side secure a 4-2 victory over
Italy.

David Moyes, who will officially begin his reign as United manager
on July 1, has identified Thiago as one of his priority transfer
targets this summer.

United's veteran midfielder, Ryan Giggs, labelled Thiago as a "big
talent" earlier in June. "I've seen him in several games," the
former Wales international told Marca.

He's a good player but there's always a lot of speculation with
United and good players. We'll see if it happens in the end but
he's a big talent.

Stephen Keshi: We have to win against Spain

The Super Eagles trainer says he’s learnt a lot about his squad at the Confederations Cup and that to stay in the competition they need to defeat the world champions on Sunday.

Nigeria coach  Stephen Keshi says that the only option left for his team to
qualify for the semi final of the Confederations Cup is to beat
world and European champions Spain in Sunday’s last Group B
game.

The Super Eagles need a win if they are to make it ahead of
Uruguay who play against Tahiti in the group’s other match.

The former Nigeria defender also praised the quality of the
competition thus far.

"So far the tournament is good, we've seen some very
entertaining matches. There are some fantastic teams here like
Uruguay, Spain, Brazil, so the level is very good," Keshi said at
pre-match press conference.

Having won their first game against Tahiti 6-1 and then lost to
Uruguay 2-1, the Nigerian team’s strengths and foibles have been
exposed.

"In this tournament, I have seen the good, the bad and the ugly
of my team," he said.

"We have a very tough game here tomorrow against Spain but we
have to win. There's no doubt about that."

On similarities between Brazil and Nigeria, Keshi said: "Brazil
and Nigeria are very similar, yes. Nigeria is a happy country of
people, we love dancing. So does Brazil. [On the pitch], we play
attractive football.

"Today we'll see everyone talk about Spain's team, but we also
have some very good players."

The game comes up at 8pm (WAT) on Sunday.

I really really loved Iyanya ‘- Yvonne Nelson reveals in new interview

The Ghanaian actress had a very revealing interview with Bella Naija yesterday where she opened up about her relationship with Iyanya and how much he hurt her. Excerpts:

BN: How long did the two of you date and how would you describe the relationship?
YN: We dated for 7 to 8 months. We had something and I thought it was special, like he was a wonderful guy but it was all lies. He had other girls and other things he was doing. Aside the actress that was in the picture, there were a lot more. That is how bad it is. We were in a relationship and he lied throughout and he was able to do all those things because I wasn’t living in Nigeria. But aside from the distance, I feel if you’re a genuine person and you’re loyal, you would still not do that.

BN: Is this actress you’re talking about actually Tonto Dikeh?
YN: I feel it’s disrespectful to start mentioning other people’s names. I am talking about Iyanya because we had a thing, I don’t want to bring in a third person. There were a lot of names that people know. There was a girl from South Africa, I’m not going to mention names but she was part of Big Brother Africa last year.

More when you continue…

BN: Most people only got to know that you and Iyanya were dating after you broke up. Were you deliberately being secretive about it?
YN: I also don’t believe in putting my relationships in the faces of people. We both had our careers and were trying to protect our fan base and that’s cool. But if you go through my Instagram page, you’d see a couple of pictures of us together. I wasn’t shy about anything but he could not say he’s dating Yvonne Nelson because he had different people he was seeing so it was very hard for him to bring it out.

BN: What did the experience teach you?
YN: There are some things that you don’t get to learn in school; people can’t advice you, you won’t even listen. You just have to experience it to learn. I have no regrets that I went through it, it would have happened anyway. We are all human beings. We fall in love once in a while but if it doesn’t work out, that’s OK.

BN: Have you moved on since then?
YN: I have! It happened last year but I’ve moved on. I’ve been working hard, been producing movies. I still listen to his music, I love his album. I love the Track 1 with MI and I love, ‘I Got It’. He is a very talented guy, I always have goose bumps on my body when he sings.

BN: Aside from the music, what else was the attraction?
YN: You can’t really explain when you love somebody. It’s everything. It was just something that I felt and I can’t explain. It was love, I really really loved him and he knows that.
BN: How do you feel about him now and what message would you like to pass on to him if you had the chance?

YN: Iyanya is such an amazing person but I just feel he needs to be more honest and be a man of his words. It’s not good if he takes advantage of women. My Mum always says any man who takes advantage of women won’t end up well. It’s Karma, it’s going to come back to you. He should treat women fairly and he should be an honest person. It’s been a while though, I haven’t seen him. He is doing amazing things in his career and I wish him luck.

Eagles disappointed me, says Paschal

international, Patrick Pas-chal has expressed disappointment at the Eagles 2-1 loss to Uruguay at the FIFA Confederations Cup on Thursday in Brazil, saying the situation means only a miracle would bring Nigeria back into reckoning in the the competition as they meet world champions, Spain tomorrow.

“The Eagles disappointed me because they had the game under control and could have taken advantage of chances created for a positive outcome. Based on what I saw of the game,it’s unpardonable to lose. I don’t even have any excuse to give before my friends of our team anymore. I was in similar situations in the past but my verdict is, there is no excuse to have lost the game,” said the Atlanta 96 gold medalist.

“I had defended them against public criticisms over recent performances hoping that in this tournament they will prove me right in the eyes of friends and foes. I was particularly disappointed in the team’s inability to convert chances and those chances could have turned the game around if they were taken. It was not as if Uruguay were fantastic or did anything spectacular than Nigeria. We had that game on our hands but wastage of chances cost us the match,” he stressed.

On the game against Spain tomorrow, Paschal said, “based on form in this tournament, it is only a miracle that can save Nigeria because Spain remains the most lethal and potent team I have seen.

They have displayed the same form and scoring ability we saw at the last World Cup and European championship that they won and I have my doubts about what our team can do against a Spain side I see getting ready to add the Confederations Cup to their silverware but let us pray.

Confed Cup: Forlan Ends Super eagle's Unbeaten Run

Mikel Obi
Diego Forlan marked his 100th international appearance with the winner as Uruguay beat Nigeria at the Confederations Cup.

The former Manchester United's strike brought to an end Stephen Keshi's long 18-match unbeaten run in competitve games.

Uruguay captain Diego Lugano opened the scoring in the first half with a scuffed finish from Forlan's cross.

Chelsea's John Mikel Obi equalised just before the break with a curled finish.

But Forlan ended a 12-game international drought with a powerful strike from the edge of the area early in the second half.

The win, Uruguay's first at the tournament, could have been more comfortable but Napoli striker Edinson Cavani was guilty of spurning a couple of decent chances.

Uruguay move level on three points with Nigeria in Group B, three behind leaders Spain.

They take on Tahiti on Sunday in their final group game, while Nigeria play Spain.

Meanwhile, in the first game of the group, Fernando Torres scored four goals and David Villa grabbed three as Spain completed a resounding Confederations Cup win over Tahiti.

Chelsea's Torres beat Tahiti goalkeeper Mikael Roche and waltzed past Roche again after David Silva's finish.

Villa then scored either side of half-time before the Spanish forwards sealed their hat-tricks from crosses.

Juan Mata made it 8-0 and Torres ran in a fourth after missing a penalty before Silva pinched a second late on.

Spain are not assured of their place in the semi-final just yet but they look odds-on to reach the last four after this record win in the competition.

And although the scoreline marked the gulf in class between the two sides, Tahiti once again won new fans with their willingness to get on the scoresheet rather than defend in numbers.

The defeat matched a record loss for the South Pacific islanders, who lost by the same scoreline against New Zealand in 2004, but their endeavour and undoubted class made this occasion far more than a straightforward thumping.

Man United Appear to Edge Closer to Signing Dutch Midfielder.

Man United are set to complete the signing of long term target Kevin Strootman after the Old Trafford side agreed on a £17.5m fee with PSV Eindhoven for the young Dutch international according to caughtoffside.

The 23 year old midfielder has long been linked with a move to Man United and Sir Alex Ferguson had the player scouted extensively throughout the season and incoming boss David Moyes is also said to be keen on acquiring the box to box performer.

PSV Eindhoven boss Dick Advocaat has publicly stated that it would be in Strootman’s own best interest to leave the confines of the Dutch Eredivisie to fully capitalize on his obvious potential with the former national team boss stating earlier this month;

“For PSV it would be good if he stays, but for Strootman himself it’s better to leave,”

“He’s the reserve captain of the Dutch national squad and PSV will make another step next season.

“This guy fits everywhere. He’s a fantastic player because he knows exactly what his qualities are.”

Having seen his side once again pipped to the title by Ajax Strootman is thought to have demanded that PSV considers offers from prospective suitors and the Eindhoven side have now seemingly agreed to his demand, deeming an offer of €20m (£17.1m) to be acceptable, leaving Man United fee to cement an agreement on personal terms with the rangy midfielder.

Strootman offers the battling qualities of a defensive midfielder, the type of which Moyes could certainly do with in his Man United squad, with the offensive abilities of a playmaker.

The powerfully built midfielder racked up five goals and 11 assists in Eredivisie action alone last term and is a player who’s physicality could lend itself well to life in the Premier League.

Man United are thought to be ready to bring in a number of additions this summer and Moyes could well feel his midfield could do with freshening up.

Anderson has had another average season, Paul Scholes has retired for a second time and Darren Fletcher is still recovering from long term illness. Tom Cleverley impressed in the early stages of the season but faded in the second half of the campaign making just two Premier League starts since February.

Indeed Man United’s most accomplished midfielder was certainly Michael Carrick, who at 31 is clearly not necessarily a long term option.

Well if justmanunited have got all their facts right which they often don’t  Kevin Strootman would in my mind be a great signing , have your say in the comments section below.

Redknapp: England does not know how to play football

The QPR manager has called for change in the national set-up, saying coaching needs to improve in order for the senior side to stop underachieving at major tournaments.

QPR manager Harry Redknapp has hit out at the England national team, saying the Three Lions
“do not know how to play football.”

The senior side has come under criticism following recent
performances against Brazil and Ireland, while the Under-21s
crashed out of the European hampionship in Israel after losing all
three of their group games.
Writing in The Sun, Redknapp has called for big changes in
the national set-up in order to improve English football.

"I am passionate about the England team at all levels and get
terribly disappointed when I see us perform so abjectly against
other countries when we have such great individuals,” Redknapp
wrote. "But
the overriding problem we all face is that English football must
change. And it has to come from the very top of the game.

“That means manager Roy Hodgson getting involved with coaches at
every level working in the same direction.

"We do not know how to play football. We just boot the ball up the
pitch and it gets us nowhere.

"We don't have the kids coached the same way - the right way - from
a young age. As a result we have a senior team that is greatly
underachieving.”

Redknapp also says the Three Lions' underachievement is not down to
a lack of quality players, but because of the standard of
coaching.

"Look at the so-called 'Golden Generation' of Steven Gerrard, Frank
Lampard, John Terry, Wayne Rooney, Ashley Cole, etc.,” Redknapp
wrote. "Man for man there wasn't a country on Earth that could
match that on paper. But together they never produced because we
just hoofed the ball forwards into channels and hoped for the
best.

"In international football you cannot just hit and hope because you
give the ball away. It's all about possession, retaining the ball,
controlling the game. We need coaches who believe in that ideal.

Halle Berry, Hallelujah: Fiance Reveals The Sex Of Halle Berry’s Baby

Olivier Martinez confirms he and fiancée Halle Berry will welcome a son later this year.

The 47-year-old French actor and the 46-year-old American actress announced they were expecting a child earlier this year.

Olivier  who previously dated Kylie Minogue is excited about the new arrival and he revealed what country their boy will grow up in.

“My son will be an American, but I remain French,” Olivier told People magazine at the opening night of the Champs-Elysées Film Festival in Paris.

While at the event, Olivier noted the differences between journalistic culture in France and America.

The star was intrigued by how the press line contrasted along the red carpet in both countries.

He and Halle have largely guarded their personal lives from the media. Halle engaged in a family court battle in 2012 with ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry over their five-year-old daughter Nahla. She requested permission to move to France with the child to escape Los Angeles’ paparazzi culture.

Halle ultimately lost the case and the family remains in California.

Olivier embraces American culture and is looking forward to his future there.

“It’s not the first [red carpet], not the last [I've been on],” he smiled. “It’s part of the job. I’m French – it’s less important. Meaning, I remain a Frenchman in America, but I adapt to American culture. I feel good there – but I’m still a foreigner.

My son will be an American
Halle opened up about her custody battle last year. She insisted she never wanted to remove Gabriel from Nahla’s life.

We both know a child needs both her parents,” she told US television programme Extra. “But what I want to say about it is sometimes, as a couple, you reach an impasse. We needed a court and a judge to help us work out some of the delicate issues, and I’m so happy we’ve arrived at that place.”
Halle and Gabriel split in 2010 after five years together.

She began dating Olivier later that year and the couple became engaged in March.

According to the Sunday Times, Mourinho is ready to make major changes to his squad, starting with listening to offers for both Mata and Luiz.

The pair, both signed in 2011, formed a key part of Chelsea's success in the Europa League last season and were part of the Blues' Champions League winning team in 2012.

Torres has struggled to make an impact since his £50 million move in 2011, but showed glimpses of his best form towards the end of the 2012/13 campaign.

According to the Sunday Times, Mourinho is prepared to listen to offers for both Luiz and Mata in order to bring in reinforcements elsewhere and shape his squad to his liking.

The Portuguese coach is said to be looking for around £35 million for Luiz, and will listen to offers for Mata, who was signed for around £25 million and has twice been named Chelsea's player of the year.

The paper adds that Mourinho has made it known that Torres is available and on the market this summer.

In place of the key trio Chelsea are keen on landing Napoli's Edinson Cavani, but have identified Bayern Munich's Mario Gomez as a cheaper alternative.

Borussia Dortmund forward Robert Lewandowski is also said to be on Mourinho's radar.

The Sunday Times adds that Mourinho is looking for a holding midfielder and central defender, but as yet who the 50-year-old will target is unclear.

Barcelona join chase for Manchester United striker target

Manchester United transfer news: Robert Lewandowski has emerged as a surprise target for Barcelona. The Spainish giant are lining up a surprise move for Manchester United target Robert Lewandowski, according to reports in Spain, says talkSPORT.

Intereconomia TV claims that Tito Vilanova is ready to lodge a formal bid for the Borussia Dortmund striker, after it emerged that he will not be allowed to complete a switch to Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich.

That revelation was believed to have made Manchester United favourites to secure the in-demand Poland international's signature, however, the Premier League champions could now face further competition from Barca.

With question marks still surrounding the long-term future of David Villa, the Catalan club could make a move for another striker, even after the high-profile capture of Brazilian sensation Neymar.

Lewandowski is rated at £25million and has just 12 months remaining on his Borussia Dortmund contract, meaning that any foreign club that meets his valuation could be given the chance to negotiate directly with one of Europe's most in-form front men.

New Red Devils boss David Moyes has already made one signing since succeeding Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford, following the capture of Uruguayan full-back Guillermo Varela, but would receive deserved praise if he can successfully lure Lewandowski to the Premier League champions.

Manchester United are understood to be considering a cash-only bid, while Barcelona could offer youngster Gerard Deulofeu in a player-plus-cash exchange deal as they look to entice the Dortmund star to Camp Nou.

World Cup 2014 Qualifiers CAF:Nigeria Vs Namibia (Eagles On the March Again)

African champions, the Super Eagles of Nigeria  will be on the march again today as they square up to Namibia’s Brave Warriors in a 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying match.

Four-pointer Namibia are still mathematically in with a chance of  earning the lone ticket from Group F into the 10-team African final elimination round, and will give it a fight against the in-form Super Eagles.

Coach Stephen Keshi and his wards spent their fifth day in the Namibian capital on Tuesday evening perfecting strategies for the game, which also serves as the team’s final preparatory session before the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup tournament in Brazil.

Six days ago, the travelling Nigerian troupe got the better of their Kenyan hosts in Nairobi, thanks to a late goal by Ahmed Musa. The Eagles are looking forward to a bigger scoreline as they have been emphasizing on accurate shooting.

Today’s tie at the artificial turf of the Sam Nujoma Stadium in quiet Windhoek somewhat serves as the return of a 1-0 defeat the Brave Warriors suffered in Calabar a year ago, at the start of the series.

In that match, it took a late goal by Ikechukwu Uche for Nigeria to scoop the maximum points.

In fact, Nigeria’s four goals in this qualifying series have come late in their games. Midfielder Gabriel Reuben scored late in Malawi but there was still time for the Flames to equalize, and against Kenya in Calabar, the match was three minutes into added time before Nnamdi Oduamadi saved the African champions’ blushes with an equalizer.

On Tuesday, NFF President Aminu Maigari told the players that early goals would delight Nigerians against the Brave Warriors.

“It would be great if we can get the goals early and then control the game the way we want. This is your last match before the FIFA Confederations Cup tournament and it would be wonderful if we can go into Brazil on a high.”

Maigari spoke at the Eagles’ Country Club Resort abode as Coach Stephen Keshi and the boys looked forward to another victorious outing.

Since coming into the saddle 20 months ago, Keshi has not lost a competitive match with Nigeria. The only two losses, narrow indeed, were the 2-3 defeat by Egypt in a friendly in Dubai on April 12, 2012 and a 0-1 loss to Peru in an international friendly in Lima the following month. Both matches were prosecuted by home-based players.

“I am confident that we will achieve our objective of earning three points here. We have been training hard here since arriving on Friday and I believe the boys are itching to go into action.

“We have eight points now and can qualify with a game to spare, but we must work very hard as I don’t think the Namibians are a push-over,” Keshi said.

The Brave Warriors have been hit by the exit of their Swedish Coach, Roger Palmgren, 48 hours to the clash with the African champions.

Football Association officials are nonplussed but have immediately put his assistants in charge.

Malawi’s Flames host Kenya’s Harambee Stars at the Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre same day, with the Eagles guaranteed progress should the hosts fail to win. Malawi have six points with Kenya bottom of the pool on two points.

After Wednesday’s match, the Super Eagles will fly to Johannesburg on Thursday afternoon to connect a South African Airways flight to Sao Paulo, from where they will travel to Belo Horizonte for their first match of the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup tournament, against Tahiti on Monday.

House Committee on Sports, Chairman of NFF Technical Committee, Barrister
Chris Green, NFF General Secretary, Barrister Musa Amadu and some top Secretariat staff.

A delegation of the Nigeria Football Supporters Club, led by the President General, Dr. Rafiu Oladipo also arrived in Windhoek.

Maintain clear and healthy skin by cutting out these four common things.

Everybody knows that drinking lots of water, getting plenty of rest and maintaining a regular skin cleansing and moisturizing routine is essential to healthy skin. But what common, everyday things can derail even the healthiest skin? Here are four skin baddies you should avoid whenever possible:

1. Processed Foods

According to Betty Kocsis, an esthetician and program technician in the esthetician program at Sheridan College in Oakville, Ont., “processed and fast foods are the enemy. They are totally depleted of nutrients, and some are genetically modified and loaded with sodium, sugars and unhealthy fats.” Mulholland agrees: “Diets that are high in processed foods and simple carbs can negatively affect the skin in many ways, including causing inflammation and having a negative impact on cell building.”
2. Caffeine

Kocsis suggests avoiding excessive amounts of coffee and caffeinated teas, which are diuretics and can dehydrate skin. (Health Canada recommends no more than 400 milligrams of caffeine per day, about the amount found in three eight-ounce [240 mL] cups of brewed coffee. For women of child-bearing age, Health Canada recommends no more than about two cups of coffee.)

3. Sugar

Avoid it specifically if you have diabetes or insulin resistance (which occurs when the body’s system for handling spikes in blood glucose gets worn out from overwork, setting the stage for diabetes). Mulholland says the sweet stuff poses a threat to skin’s “immunity and cell turnover” in people with these conditions because they don’t metabolize sugar well.

4. Alcohol

Dr. Stephen Mulholland, a plastic surgeon in Toronto, says excessive alcohol consumption—more than one or two drinks a day—puts strain on the liver, and that can result in dilated pores, dilated and broken capillaries, as well as the overgrowth of sweat and oil glands. Unfortunately, this occurs most often in the face (particularly the nose), though other areas of the skin are vulnerable, too. But he still believes in the health benefits of red wine, and says one glass a day will not harm the skin—unless you suffer from rosacea. A survey by the National Rosacea Society in the U.S. found that 76 percent of sufferers cited red wine as a trigger for flare-ups.

Syrian TV:Bombs kill 14 in central Damascus

Two bombs killed 14 people in central Damascus on Tuesday, state media said, in an attack which appeared to target a police station.

Syrian television said the bombs exploded close to the police post in the central Marjeh Square, while the British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said one bomb was detonated by a suicide attacker inside the police station.

The Observatory, which monitors violence across Syria through a network of medical and security sources, put the death toll at 15 and said most of the casualties were police.

State media had earlier said the bombs had been left outside shops in Marjeh Square, located in the heart of the Syrian capital, which has been rocked several times by bombings during the two-year-old uprising against President Bashar al-Assad.

A bomb attack in the same square six weeks ago killed 13 people. Since then, Assad's forces have retaken rebel-held areas to the east of the capital and also driven rebels from their stronghold in the town of Qusair, close to the Lebanese border.

Benzema has knee surgery in France – Real Madrid

Real Madrid’s French international Karim Benzema has undergone a surgical procedure in France to drain liquid from his right knee, the club said on its web site.

Benzema was admitted on Monday afternoon to an orthopaedic clinic in Lyon, southeastern France, where a ganglion, or mass, on his right knee was treated.

The 25-year-old striker had a “CAT-guided aspiration”, the club said late Monday, a procedure in which surgeons use a CAT (computer axial tomography) scanner to guide them as they insert a needle and then drain liquid.

The French clinic’s surgeon Bertrand Sonnery-Cottet, of the Centre Orthopedique Santy, carried out the operation under the supervision of the Real Madrid health services, the club said on realmadrid.com.

However, the player himself is confident that he will be fit in time for the start of pre-season training next month.

“It is a cyst that has been bothering me and it is almost not even an operation,” he told Spanish sports daily Marca in an interview published on Tuesday.

“I will be in perfect condition when the pre-season starts, we don’t have to worry about this topic.

Mandela in hospital with lung infection

Nelson Mandela in Hospital
NELSON Mandela has been readmitted to hospital with a renewed lung infection and was in "serious but stable condition," South Africa's presidency said, marking the second hospital stay in as many months for the ailing anti-apartheid icon.

"During the past few days former president Nelson Mandela has had a recurrence of lung infection," President Jacob Zuma's office said in a statement.

"This morning at about 1:30am (0930 AEST) his condition deteriorated and he was transferred to a Pretoria hospital. He remains in a serious but stable condition," it said.

It marks the second hospitalisation in as many months for the frail anti-apartheid hero, who will turn 95 in July.

On April 6 he was released after being treated for pneumonia during a 10-day stay.

The Nobel Peace Prize winner has stayed in hospital four times in just over half a year, mostly over problems with his chest.

In December 2012, he was hospitalised for 18 days for a lung infection and for gallstones surgery, his longest stay in hospital since he walked free from 27 years in jail in 1990.

In March he was admitted for a day for a scheduled check-up and during his 10-day stay weeks later, doctors drained a build-up of fluid, known as a pleural effusion or "water on the lungs", that had developed in his chest.

Mandela has not been seen in public since the World Cup final in 2010, where he appeared on the pitch before kick-off.

Following his April hospital stay, the release of television footage showing a frail and distant Mandela being visited at home by ANC leaders sparked outrage and accusations that the party was exploiting Mandela.

The images aired by state broadcaster SABC - which were the first public footage of the Nobel peace laureate in almost nine months - showed an unsmiling, distant Mandela seated upright on a couch, his legs covered in a blanket.

Revealed: Rooney holds secret talks with two mystery clubs

The Manchester United star met with a Premier League side on one morning before flying overseas for talks with a continental superpower in the afternoon.

Wayne Rooney held secret meetings with two clubs in the same day as he lays the foundations for his Manchester United exit.

England's talisman is understood to have met with a Premier League outfit on one morning in June before flying overseas for talks with a continental big-hitter in the afternoon.

Mystery surrounds the precise identities of the two clubs but it is believed that Rooney himself was present in the top-level talks, along with his representatives, following his return from turning out for England in Brazil on Sunday.

The 27-year-old is ready to sever his ties with United as he sets his sights on a new club next season.

Chelsea, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco are among the mega-spenders who are closely monitoring Rooney's situation, while Arsenal, armed with the biggest transfer kitty in the club's history, are also regarded by insiders to be serious contenders to land the forward.

Arsene Wenger has gone public with his interest in Rooney and outlined the challenge that new United manager David Moyes has in "bridging the gap" with the striker after successfully suing him for libel in 2008.

Rooney's camp have given informal indications to Arsenal that the player would be interested in a shock summer switch to the north Londoners.

Furthermore, chief executive Ivan Gazidis explained in a wide-ranging interview that the Gunners now possess the financial muscle to compete for the world's elite players. Asked if Arsenal were now potentially in a position to pay a €29 million transfer fee and wages of €230,000 a week for one player, Gazidis declared: "Of course we could do that. We could do more than that."

Rooney has two years remaining on a United contract worth up to €250,000-a-year and will not accept a drop in salary.

PSG and Monaco, the nouveau-riche French clubs, have the spending power to match and even exceed Rooney's United package, although this might not be enough to persuade the England star to swap the Premier League for Ligue 1.

Real Madrid are in the market for at least one A-list front man as they prepare to offload Gonzalo Higuain, although Rooney has not been strongly linked with the Spanish giants.

Chelsea have also registered an interest in United's most high-profile player after learning of his availability, but the Londoners' priority is to capture a spearhead rather than a No.10. After losing out to Monaco on Radamel Falcao, Chelsea have turned their attention to Napoli's Edinson Cavani, while Fiorentina's Stevan Jovetic is also on their striker shortlist.

Contrary to reports that Rooney's relationship with Sir Alex Ferguson is central to his desire to quit the club he joined in 2004, sources have told Goal that the striker is unwilling to work under former boss Moyes, who was his first manager in professional football, and is "hell bent" on leaving.

Kung Fu Master Kills Nigerian Prostitute In Spain

One of the most famous martial arts masters of Spain, Juan Carlos Aguilar, 47, was arrested for the murder of a Nigerian prostitute in Spain.

The 29-years-old Nigerian woman, Maureen Ada Ortuya, was allegedly beaten up by Kung Fu martial artist Juan Carlos Aguilar and left in coma after the assault. She was found by the police at Aguilar’s gym after a passerby saw him drag a woman by the hair inside his Buddist temple and alerted the police who came and took the woman to the Basurto hospital in Bilbao where she died on Wednesday morning at about 12pm.

Late Maureen was taken to the hospital in a very serious condition after being found badly beaten all over her body and with her hands, neck and feet tied.

Investigation by the Spanish police revealed human remains of a Colombian woman in his house whom Juan Carlos admitted he had killed. Police said he may be a serial killer.

Juan Carlos was a star on TV and he was fond of walking on coals, breaking bottles with his fingers, defying gravity in spectacular positions and passing his tongue on a hot iron without burning.

Initial press report states that Aguilar had won a number of competitions and championships for his martial arts skills but the Spanish Karate Federation issued a statement on Tuesday clarifying that it has never had any association with Aguilar and that he never won any Kung fu competition in Spain and the Shaolin Temple Spain, the only center in Spain that is recognized by the Shaolin Temple in China, confirmed on Wednesday that Aguilar is not a Shaolin master and nor is he a monk.

My fiance wiped away my shame-Tiwa Savage

Tiwa
Among the many words that can  describe Tiwa Savage’s sojourn in the Nigerian music industry, the most apt is ‘meteoric’. The reason is not far-fetched. Just a few years back, Tiwa, amidst fear of the unknown, left the U.K where she already had everything going for her  as a backup  singer and songwritter for most UK’s  high-flying artistes to build her music career in Nigeria.

Despite facing series of discouragements, she did not give up on her  resolve to break new ground in the nation’s music  industry.  Today, she is one  of the best things that ever  happened to the industry. Come on board as she takes us on a journey into her life, her career and the man in her life.

Your debut album will drop any moment from now. What are your fans expecting from you?

This album is straight from my heart and it’s something that I’ve worked so tirelessly for. A lot of people wondered why it took me so long a time to drop my own album. That’s because we had to go through a lot of legal processes to clear some of the samples that we used, and that took us some months.

Also, we wanted to work with notable producers outside the shores of the  country like Oak who produces Rhinna. So, we had to work around his schedule and waited  for them to have our time. But this album is something that I really took my time with because I didn’t want it to be the usual Nigerian album that contains just party tracks from the beginning till the end.
Why did you title your album ‘Once Upon A Time?’
Once you hear ‘Once Upon A Time’, you know it’s story time. My life has been an amazing story and I wanted to reflect that on my album. Also, I wanted  to motivate other upcoming artistes that, once upon a time, I was a little girl living at Isale Eko and I dreamt of doing this, and here I am doing it. So, I want their ‘once upon a time’ to turn into reality. It’s a 19 -track album.

There are tracks like Wanted, Ileke, Middle Passage, Olorun Mi, Why Don’t You Love Me, Fela Interlude, Love Me Love Me Love me, Eminado ft Don Jazzy, Folarin, Oh Yeah ft Don Jazzy, Shout Out ft Ice Berg Slim & Sarkodie, Written All Over Your Face, Get Low, Ife Wa Gbona ft Leo Wonder, Eji ma fia, Baby Mo ft Flavour, Stand As One ft General Pype, and Thank You. It also has two bonus tracks like Without My Heart ft Don Jazzy and Kele Kele.

Looking back to when you stormed the nation’s music industry a few years ago,   how do you feel today?

Like you said, a lot of people tried to discourage me from coming home.  They told me that people who came before me were not really welcomed home, and that it is even worse for a female singer. They even said there was no way I could be on the same stage with the likes of Tuface, Wizkid and many others. I got discouraged somehow. As a matter of fact, after I dropped Kele-Kele, I moved back to Los Angeles. Then, I dropped Love Me Love Me and it grew even bigger. So, I decided to move back to Nigeria because people around me encouraged me that I could make it if I’m consistent in what I’m doing. That was how I was  encouraged to do more. I thank God for where I am today.

A lot of female artistes complain of being marginalised in the industry.Do you have the same experience?

I think every female artiste needs to work ten times harder than the opposite sex  and that’s why I put much effort into what I do. Usually, what most artistes do is wait until when they drop their album to do an album launch. But I think it’s important to do an exclusive listening because the press are the ones who are going to project my image to the outside world. And that’s why I had to organise a press listening party so that you guys can assess me, and also, to let you know how much you mean to me.

Now that you’ve become a big brand,  aren’t you scared of competition from other female artistes?

Why would I be scared? Back in America, we have the likes of Beyonce, Nicky Minaj, Mariah Carey and other female acts standing tall. So why would there be just one person shining here? After all,  here in Nigeria, we have male acts like Davido, Wizkid, M.I, Tuface and other big names at the same time. It’s not fair to have just one female act in the industry.  So, I’m glad that more female acts are springing up. Having more female acts in the industry will open more doors.

In the song, Ife Wa Gbona, you featured an artiste and there’s this scene where both of you were in the forest singing to each other. He spoke Yoruba to you but you replied in English. Is it that you don’t speak Yoruba?

Of course, I speak Yoruba fluently, omo Yoruba ni mi(I’m a Yoruba ). We did  it for  a purpose because I have a mixed audience.  If he speaks Yoruba and I reply him in Yoruba language, how will my fans in South Africa, Uganda and all over the world  be carried along?

The track Eminado has this special kind of tone. How did you come about it?
That sound and name is the handiwork of Don Jazzy. We got the idea when we were in the studio rehearsing. We were just playing around with words and sounds. So when it came up, we thought it was a good one and we decided to turn it into a song.

What was growing up like for you?
Growing up was very interesting. There were no barriers, I was just free. I had a very healthy upbringing. My parents ensured that I was grounded and I had lovely brothers.

You appear like someone who will easily be affected by negative stories. Have you had any scandal?

I don’t think I’ll feel bad whenever I read a negative story about myself. I believe everybody has an opinion and that’s life for you. No matter how beautiful you look, , there’s someone somewhere who would still say you are ugly. So, for me, I’ve only done something from my heart and haven’t compromised my integrity. In my album, I have party songs and tracks for everyone no matter your preference. So, I’ve satisfied my fans and I think I’m going to leave the rest to God.

A lot of people see you as a sex symbol. Are you one?
No, I’m not. If you ask my family whenever I’m home, I’m not like this. I’m far from the Tiwa Savage you see on stage. I’m a quiet person.

What has fame done to you?
Naturally, I’m the outgoing type but fame has made me more reserved unlike some artistes who would claim  they haven’t changed once they start making more money. It’s a lie. There’s nobody that can tell you they haven’t changed. I think I’ve changed because I’m more wary of those I move with, where I go and those that come around me. I trust people less now because I want to keep my sanity. I also think people around me have also changed because they expect more from me. I might make a mistake and that’s normal for everyone but because it’s Tiwa Savage, my mistakes get blown up and exaggerated. So I’m more conscious of what I do and say in public than before.

Why did you suddenly go into partnership with Tunji by co-owning 232 Entertainment. Are you not scared of the unexpected?

Tunji is an exceptional man. We’ve worked together and we trust each other. So, I’m not scared that anything negative will come up between us. I don’t work with fear because fear is not of God.

Why was the Marvin crew absent at your album listening session?
You well know that I’m also part of the crew and the day I held my album listening session was an important day in my life and career. So, their absence wasnt deliberate. They were away in South Africa for the opening show of Big Brother Africa- The Chase. They had to perform live. But they surprised me on that day when they sent in a live recorded message to me. It was played for all to see . I was so happy because I didn’t expect it, honestly.

Is there any track dedicated to Tunji in your album?
Yes, there’s this track Written All Over Your Face. I dedicated the  song to him for the role he played in my life. I met him at a time when no one was ready to help because I’m a female artiste. And whenever I wanted to give up and cry sometimes, he always encouraged me to be strong and move on. He’s my back bone. I love him because he’s been there for me. He wiped my shame away when he put a ring on my finger.

Why did you say he took your shame away.  Were you ashamed of being single?
(Laughs). You know in Nigeria when a lady isn’t married and is just focused on her career, people think  there’s something wrong with her. But he understood my journey. He  was able to push me career-wise and encourage me. So, I just had to do a song for him.

There’s a mix up somewhere. Are you signed to Marvin or 323 Entertainment?
I’m actually signed unto 323 Entertainment. It’s owned by Tunji Balogun, T.J and he’s also my partner, we own it together. 323 is under Marvin but Tunji handles my day to day business.

You’re signed to Marvin and 323. Where is the place of Sony Records?

I’m still signed to Sony in America as a songwriter. And even as I’m doing my album there, I’m still writing for other artistes. I just had to make that commitment. I just did a song for Monica called Catch With Me Him on her last album. And they just called me few weeks ago that I have another song with Fantasia again, and other songs I’m writing for other artistes. So I’m still signed to the label. .

Have you started your project?
Yes I have. I’ve met with a lot of organisations and already put up something to fight breast cancer. Very soon, screenings will start especially for young girls. I also visit the motherless homes quite often but I don’t put it in the press because I don’t want to expose those kids. And the video I did, Olorun Mi is to give back to people who lost their loved ones in those tragic situations.

What inspires you?
I get inspired by a lot of things; life heartbreaks, happiness and Nigeria as a country. If you listen to the Olorun Mi track, I wrote it because I missed those close to my heart who have died. But I’m disturbed because as a country when we lose our loved ones, there should be statues and memorials to remember them. But here, we just move on as if nothing happened. So I got inspired by those  lives we lost during the Dana plane crash to do that song.

What would like to be  remembered for?
The late Whitney Houston is remembered for what she accomplished while she lived. She  inspired many people. I want kids to say when I’m gone that if Tiwa Savage could do it, they can equally do it.

Is there anything you would like to change in the Nigerian music industry?
I’d like us to be more international and be the pioneer of African music and I think it’s happening slowly. I’d like a situation where I  go to the UK and hear more of Nigerian  music on radio and have our artistes nominated for the Grammy’s . In addition, I’d  like to put necessary structures in place and ensure that piracy law is enacted in the country.

What’s your greatest fear about life?
No, I don’t have any fear.
