World's Fastest Electric Car Unveiled, made by china

The world's fastest electric car - which has a top speed of 155mph and manages 0-62mph in just 3.7 seconds - has been unveiled at the Shanghai Motor Show.

The SP:01 is manufactured in America by a company called Detroit Electric, which claims to have produced the first ever electric car in Detroit back in 1907.

Choosing China over Europe and the US to reveal its state-of-the-art machine is significant. The Chinese government has placed itself behind a major push to invest in electric cars across the nation.

Albert Lam, the chief executive of Detroit Electric, told Sky News: "I think China has the right policy, right incentive, and the right drive from the government and China really does need some solution with their air pollution.

"There will be a lot of demand for this type of vehicle as well as future vehicles we are going to launch."

The government's pledge to put five million electric vehicles on China's roads by 2020 has prompted a scramble by car manufactures in all sectors of the market.

From Porsche to VW and Renault, manufacturers are now choosing China to unveil their latest electric or hybrid models.

The Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrid has been a focus for photographers and prospective customers in Shanghai all week. It has a dual-electric petrol engine; the first Porsche of its kind.

In another exhibition hall, the company formally known as Rover showed off its electric offering. Rover is now owned by Chinese Auto giant SAIC.

In theory, China is the perfect market for the electric car to thrive. Sixteen of the 20 most polluted cities in the world are said to be in China.

This year, the air in the Chinese capital reached 40 times the safe limit. The sheer number of cars and the poor quality of fuel are significant contributors to what has become known as 'airmageddon'.

The global electric car revolution has, thus far, failed to materialise. A combination of 'range-anxiety', high prices and unappealing models has discouraged the public to buy.

Unimpressed by poor sales, governments have been reluctant to invest in infrastruture. A vicious cycle has formed which has been hard to break. But China could hold the key.

In a suburb of the Chinese capital we found evidence of the government pledge to support the development of electric cars for the mass market.

The Beijing Electric Car Company is a part-state owned car manufacturer. Their site is vast; a massive factory surrounded by car parks full of new cars, all electric.

The E150-EV is the first mass-produced Chinese-made electric car. None have been sold yet because the details of the rebate customers will get for buying one have not yet been established.

"At this stage, we're still in a test period," Si Hai, a director at the factory, told Sky News.

"The Beijing government has been positively encouraging the industry including research. The good trend of the development is thanks to efforts by the government."

There are about 1,000 electric cars running on the Beijing roads but they are public service vehicles.

Several major Chinese cities operate a "licence plate lottery" in which prospective new drivers must apply for a number-plate. Only a tiny proportion of those who apply every month are successful.

Under new plans, drivers applying for a number-plate for an electric car will not have to go through the lottery. They will be issued with a plate immediately.

"The development of electric cars will not happen without the support of the government. I think the country has been working on the research and implementing the relevant policies. I think in the near future, our goal of getting electric cars to every household can be achieved," Mr Si said.

If he is right, then simple economies of scale should push prices down and encourage further research and development. The global electric car revolution could finally get the kick-start it has waited for.

chelsea has confirmed a deal with jose mourinho with €60m special welcome gift

Jose Mourinho
Chelsea have all but sealed a sensational double agreement to bring Jose Mourinho and Radamel Falcao to Stamford Bridge this summer, according to reports in Germany.

In an article carried by the Daily Mirror, German newspaper Bild reports that Jose Mourinho is set to be appointed Chelsea manager for next season, with Atletico Madrid frontman Radamel Falcao a €60m "special welcome gift".

Falcao has been a long-term target for the Blues, and they were linked with a move for the Colombian international in January.

And with interim Chelsea boss Rafa Benitez set to leave the club at the end of the season, there has been speculation Mourinho could return to the Stamford Bridge dugout.

Bild broke the news of Mario Gotze's transfer to Bayern Munich earlier this week, and have now claimed the summer's second big transfer will involve the Blues.

Mourinho has been widely expected to leave the Bernabeu this summer, and Real Madrid's shock 4-1 defeat to Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday night will not boost his chances of sticking around much longer.

He'd be a popular appointment among Chelsea fans after a hugely successful three year spell at Stamford Bridge between 2004 and 2007.

And the report now claims he's "almost certain" to re-join the Blues this summer, with Falcao to follow in a €60m (£51.7m) deal.

The Atletico Madrid man would join Fernando Torres and Demba Ba, strengthening Chelsea's hopes of mounting a renewed Premier League title challenge next season.

Shipping container damaged at B.C contruction site one person injured

One man was taken to hospital and a number of car and apartment windows were blown out following a large explosion at a Saanich, B.C., work site.

Saanich police Const. Gord Bedingfield said the blast occurred just before 6:30 a.m. PT when a construction worker was opening up a job site on Cloverdale Avenue and Inverness. The worker opened a shipping container being used for storage, and the propane tank being stored with a barbecue inside the container somehow ignited.

"This propane tank was either left on or was leaking," Bedingfield said. "They're still trying to figure out what the spark was, but something sparked and it blew up the enclosed container."

The blast shattered windows and woke up neighbours, like David Parliament.

"It was absolutely crazy. I thought the house was being attacked by somebody. The window beside my bed blew out," he told CBC News.

The 49-year-old worker who opened the container is now in hospital with minor injuries.

A number of other site employees, like Tony Paterson, showed up for work minutes later.

"It's a good thing there wasn't 30 guys in the site when it happened, because it's guaranteed there would have been deaths or injuries, in my opinion," Paterson said.

Police asked people to avoid the area around Cloverdale Avenue and Inverness Road until approximately 10 a.m.Cloverdale Avenue was closed to traffic between Quadra Street and Inverness Avenue. Rutledge Park, where some of the explosion debris landed, was also closed, police said.

WorkSafeBC is now investigating the incident.

News for Xbox: Microsoft Teases Launch Of New Xbox console

Xbox console
The new Xbox console looks likely to be unveiled on May 21 after Microsoft put out an invitation to see "a new generation revealed".

Taking place at the company's US headquarters, it will "mark the beginning of a new generation of games, TV and entertainment", according to a blog by Xbox Live director Larry Hyrb.

"We'll share our vision for Xbox and give you a real taste of the future," adds Hyrb.

"Then, 19-days later at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles, we'll continue the conversation and showcase our full lineup of blockbuster games."

Microsoft's big reveal will also be live streamed on the internet from 10am local time.

A new Xbox, reportedly code named Durango, has been rumoured for some time and follows Sony's announcement in February of the PlayStation 4.

Specifications and features of the new Xbox are still a closely-guarded secret.

Graphics and processing power are sure to get a big boost, though, and it appears the console will be positioned as an 'entertainment hub' rather than purely a games console, meaning it may be able to stream films and television.

Fans will also be waiting to hear whether rumours are true that the console will need to be permanently connected to the internet.

Debate intensified earlier this month after one of Microsoft's creative directors tweeted about the possibility.

Microsoft distanced itself from the remarks and said it had "no further comment on this matter".

Some gamers have expressed anger at the prospect, saying it would be problematic in areas with below-par connectivity and claiming Microsoft could also use it to stop people playing second-hand games.

Microsoft's current console, the Xbox 360 is the UK's best-selling console with 29% of total sales, while the PlayStation 3 has 23% of the market.

Sony's next generation machine, due out at Christmas, has an eight-core processor and will allow users to stream and play video games hosted on servers.

UK Peace Index Shows Fall In Violent Crime

The UK has seen a "substantial and sustained" fall in violent crime over the last decade, according to a report.A new UK Peace Index has revealed that violent crime in Britain is falling more rapidly than anywhere else in Western Europe.

The murder rate has halved since 2003, from 1.99 per 100,000 people to one per 100,000 with the violent crime rate falling from 1,255 to 933 per 100,000 people, according to the research.

Broadland, in Norfolk, was the most peaceful area at local authority level, followed by Three Rivers in Hertfordshire, South Cambridgeshire, East Dorset and Maldon in Essex.

Inner London boroughs were the least peaceful - headed by Lewisham and followed by Lambeth, Hackney, Newham and Tower Hamlets.

The most peaceful region in the UK was South East England and the least peaceful Greater London followed by Scotland and Northern Ireland.

The least peaceful major urban centre in the UK was Glasgow, followed by London and then Belfast.

The research, which covers the 10-year period from 2003 to 2012, showed the rate of murders and manslaughter in Britain was at the lowest level since 1978.

It was revealed that almost all categories of crime, including burglary and fraud, have dropped - except drug offences.

The findings come from the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP), which defines peace as the absence of violence or fear of violence.

Their report says: "Both crime and homicide have fallen significantly.

"The fall over the last decade has resulted in the UK homicide rate now being roughly equivalent to that of the Western European average, and it is now at its lowest level since 1978.

"However, the UK violent crime rate is significantly higher than the European Union average."

The study credited the falling crime rate to changes in policing, including improved technology, as well as an ageing population, reduced alcohol consumption and the introduction of the minimum wage.

The IEP also claims that violent crime costs the UK economy more than £124bn each year - £4,700 for every household.

Murder alone costs the economy around £131m a year, which does not include lost productivity. The cost of theft and burglary adds up to around £7bn.

Sir Alex Ferguson praise's Van Persie's goal against Aston Villa

RVP GOAL
Sir Alex Ferguson has hailed Robin van Persie's volley against Aston Villa as "the goal of the century" as the striker's hat trick fired Manchester United to its 20th league title.
After opening the scoring in the second minute with a close-range strike, Van Persie received a raking pass from Wayne Rooney before firing first time past Brad Guzan. The 29-year-old completed his hat trick with another finish inside the box 12 minutes before halftime.
It was goal of the century for me," Sir Alex told reporters.
It was marvellous. The technique with his head down, over the ball and just perfect timing. It was a magnificent strike. He scored exactly the same goal against Arsenal. He is in his mature years and winning the league tonight meant a lot to him.
He's been unbelievable. I think that he has to take a lot of the credit. I think his goals tell you that, his performance levels told you that. But I'm sure Robin would be saying what a great bunch of players he's had with him."

Van Persie is now one goal clear of Liverpool's Luis Suarez in the race for the Premier League's Golden Boot, while Sir Alex has compared the striker's impact to Eric Cantona's time at Old Trafford.
When you identify a great player coming to the end of his contract, you go for him no matter who," he added. In terms of impact he has made as big an impact as any player I can imagine. [Eric] Cantona was an incredible impact player, I've had some great strikers, maybe 10 great strikers.
We had an expectation of him. He was sensational last year, but Arsene [Wenger] said he was better than I'd think after I'd done the deal, and he was right. He has never disappointed us.

Eaglets ‘ll be African champs – Chukwua

Former Nigerian manager, Christian Chukwu has said the Golden Eaglets’ 7-0 demolition of Congo’s Junior Red Devils was a clear statement that they will not miss the podium dance when curtain falls on the 10th Africa Under-17 Championship in Morocco.

The Eaglets recovered from Wednesday’s shock 0-1 loss to the Baby Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire to lord it over the Congolese in the last Group B match in Marrakech on Saturday.

Chukwu said after the Eaglets secured the World Cup ticket that the coast is now bright for them to grab Africa’s title for the third time.

“That’s a wonderful result. I think Cote d’Ivoire should count themselves lucky to have escaped some of these ruthless whipping in the hands of the Golden Eaglets.

“I must say congratulations to the side and coaching crew for this wonderful result. This set of Under-17 is the best ever assembled in the country.

“I believe they’re on the right path towards emerging as African champions once again. They must remain focused and avoid a repeat of the complacency that caused them defeat in the hands of the Ivorians.

“I still have to congratulate them for maximising the opportunities as a result of the expulsion of the Congolese two players. Red cards are part of the game and they profited massively from it,” said the former Nigerian defender to supersport.com.

Looking ahead of their semi final pairing with Tunisia, the former Harambee Stars manager said   that he will welcome a North African challenge than a West African.

“North Africans play more tactical game, the Eaglets should be themselves, avoid imitation but play their own game.

“As a player and coach I’ve always preferred a North African opposition than a West African challenge.

“I don’t see the North Africans stopping the Eaglets from heading to the World Cup as African champions. Tunisia will surely come out for war but the Eaglets will overcome their hurdle,” said the Green Eagles captain.

Africa’s representatives at the World Cup in the United Arab Emirates are hosts, Morocco, Tunisia, Nigeria and Cote d’Ivoire.

The Ivorians ended their group campaign as runners-up and will battle hosts, Morocco in the semifinals in Casablanca on Tuesday.

Arsenal are waiying up a bid for players

After another season of trophy-less, arsene wenger would decide to spend to strengthen his team.
Provided that the Gunners qualify for the Champions League at the end of this season and that Wenger is willing to spend his reported £70m transfer fee.

This XI is purely who I would like to see at the Emirates next season, so feel free to provide your own alternatives in the comments section.

This are the player that could be linked to gunners next season:

Asmir Begovic

The Stoke City stopper, at 25, is entering his prime goalkeeping years and has shown this season that he is a true talent between the posts. Although pricy at a reported £15m, the Bosnian will be well worth it for Arsenal and could provide competition as well as mentorship for the somewhat inconsistent and much younger Wojciech Szczesny.

Sebastien Corchia

With Bacary Sagna set to be leaving in the summer, Wenger will have to sign a right-back to provide cover to Carl Jenkinson and Corchia might just be the right fit. The Sochaux man has represented France at youth levels and is set to replace Sagna in the national team as well. The 22-year-old is known for his attacking instincts, dangerous free kick ability, and versatility.

 Laurent Koscielny

The Frenchman has again proved his worth this season. Although having a somewhat shaky start to the season, Koscielny has been turning in consistent performances of late. Being one of the fastest defenders in the league, the French international can keep up with and cover the fastest attackers. Wenger needs to hold on to the centre-back.

Ashley Williams

Williams has shown good form and real resilience against big Premier League sides this season and Arsenal can only benefit from the 28-year-old’s experience at the back. As the Swansea and Welsh captain, Williams is a born leader and a very effective defensive organiser – exactly what Arsenal needs. He can play as a central defender or at right-back and Wenger should do all he can to sign the man who led Swansea to Capital One Cup honours this season.

Kieran Gibbs

Gibbs is one of the most promising young players in the Arsenal and England side. The 23-year-old has shown creativity, pace and solid defending in the right back position this season and at such a young age he could only get better. With the latest signing Nacho Monreal equally talented, this is one area where Arsenal don’t need any improving.

Etienne Capoue

Although Arsenal will face stern competition from Paris Saint-Germain for the defensive midfielder’s signature, this is one player that could improve the squad immensely. This season’s poor defensive displays are largely owed to the lack of a proper holding midfielder who can provide cover to the back four.

Capoue could do just that, as well as adding to the attack. The Toulouse midfielder has scored seven times and assisted three times for his club this season.

Jack Wilshere

It goes without saying that this young man will play a huge role in Arsenal’s future. He is a born leader and he leads by example, taking his team forward in attack with exciting runs or setting up his teammates with good passing; and it will be no surprise to see him take over the captain armband next season.

Although struggling to regain his pre-injury form, the 21-year-old England international is sure to be back to his best before long.

Santi Cazorla

The former Malaga man must surely be the pick of Arsene Wenger’s pre-season signings as he has effortlessly adopted the Gunners’ style and slotted right into the fluid, almost ‘Spanish’-type passing game that Arsenal is known for. His passing is immaculate and he often creates chances with piercing passes and long balls for his teammates.

Right-wing: Theo Walcott

‘There is no substitute for pace’ – the saying certainly rings true in the case of Theo Walcott. The young England international has blistering pace but has also improved remarkably in his finishing and passing.

Despite his recent dip in form Walcott remains Arsenal’s top goal scorer with 18 so far this season. With the 24-year-old on right wing, a Walcott-Jovetic partnership could prove to be lethal in attack.

Stevan Jovetic

Coming with a lofty price-tag at £30m, Wenger will have to smash the club transfer record to prise Jovetic away from Fiorentina. But at only 23-years-old and with excellent dribbling skills, control, vision and the ability to finish well, the young man could be groomed into the next Thierry Henry. The forward could flourish at Arsenal and could provide the firepower that the Gunners have been lacking.

Lukas Podolski

Although the German hasn’t been afforded much playing time recently, Podolski is always a threat to defenders. His pace, agility, trickery, and striking ability are qualities that Wenger needs to make use of. The Germany international has expressed his desire to play down the middle but the wide position has suited him well and I’d like to see him starting on the left next season.

Rio Ferdinand wants to prolong Manchester United career

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand says nobody will replicate what Ryan Giggs has achieved at Old Trafford.Rio Ferdinand has given the clearest indication yet that he will sign a new contract at Manchester United, extending his stay at Old Trafford into a twelfth season.

The 34-year-old defender will be out of contract this summer, but is set to pen a one-year deal that will keep him at the club until June 2014.

Ferdinand confirmed he wants to prolong his Manchester United career for as long as possible, but added that there was little chance of him emulating the longevity of team-mate Ryan Giggs.

"I'm just enjoying my football, playing in the big games, being a regular in the team," he is quoted in the Daily Mail. "It enables you to hit a bit of form. I hope I can carry on.

"When you get to my stage you take it year by year. I'm working out my routine.

"But no-one else will be able to do what Giggsy has done. He's got a certain body type, works on it and gets the best out of it."

The former West Ham and Leeds United stopper has been linked with a lucrative move to China or North America, but he looks set to ignore those overtures in favour of one more year in the Premier League, after proving he still has what it takes to compete, in 24 top-flight appearances and counting, this campaign.

Ferdinand returns to the place where it all started as Manchester United take on the Hammers at Upton Park this evening, and the veteran called for full focus from his team-mates, as they look to right the wrongs of last season, and maintain their 15-point lead at the top of the table.

"We've got to make sure we finish the season correctly and get this title back. We're not far off it but it's not over until it's over. We have to make sure we remain focused and apply ourselves in the right way."

He added: "I'm not really surprised by the lead if I'm honest. When I look around the changing room I expect us to be winning games nine times out of 10.

"I believe in the squad, believe we can win games in various ways,  winning ugly, playing fluent football, keeping a clean sheet.

"It would be great to win it again but until we do I don't want to talk much about it. Last season a lot of people got ahead of themselves.

Gay marriage legalised in New Zealand

A 77-44 vote in the NZ parliament was greeted with cheers and applause from packed public galleries and kicked off celebrations around the country.New Zealand is the 13th country to legalise gay marriage and the first in the Asia-Pacific.

More than 1000 Australian same-sex couples say they will cross the Tasman to tie the knot. Now that marriage equality is only three hours away there will be a flood of couples flying to New Zealand," said Australian Marriage Equality spokesman Rodney Croome.

NZ Labour's gay MP Louisa Wall promoted the Marriage (Definition of Marriage) Amendment Bill and it was passed on conscience votes, with no instructions from parties.

Prime Minister John Key was one of those supporting it.

MPs have been under intense pressure from churches and moral conservative lobby groups during the past few weeks but the final vote was almost identical to those cast during the bill's previous three stages.

"Excluding a group in society from marriage is oppressive and unacceptable," Ms Wall said when she launched the third reading debate.

"This is not about church teachings or philosophy, it never was. The principles of justice and equality aren't served if the key institution of marriage is reserved for heterosexuals only."

The Green Party's gay MP Kevin Hague said he had been with his partner for nearly 29 years.

"Until this day a basic human right has been denied us," he said.

"The consequences of this bill will be that same sex couples will marry, transgender people will no longer have to divorce, prejudice and violence will be undermined, the world will be a better place and absolutely no one will be any worse off."

National's Maurice Williamson, a strong supporter, said he had been appalled by some of the lobbying.I had a letter saying I was going to burn in the fires of hell, some of the bullying tactics were really evil.
NZ First leader Winston Peters again called for a referendum. Some say there is a groundswell for change, but how do we know that?" he said.New Zealand is supposed to be a democracy and what we are about to do is circumvent any expression of public opinion."

Mr Peters and his MPs voted against the bill.Nearly all the MPs who spoke in the debate supported the bill.

One who didn't was National's Jonathan Young.History has invested significant tradition in marriage and I believe we should maintain that tradition," he said.

"This issue isn't as clear as some people think, many are struggling with it and the community is more divided than this parliament."

Although Wednesday night's vote put the bill into law, gay couples who want to marry will have to wait a while.

The Department of Internal Affairs, which handles births, deaths and marriages, has been given four months to get its act together and prepare the procedures and licence forms.

Ms Wall expects there will be a rush. The first week of August could work for a lot of people," she told NZ Newswire.

Quake kills at least 40 near Iran border

A MAJOR earthquake described as the strongest to hit Iran in more than half a century has flattened buildings near Iran's border with Pakistan, and was felt as far away as New Delhi, Dubai and Bahrain.

Reports say it killed at least 40 people in the sparsely populated region in Iran while in Pakistan, at least five people were killed, also in a remote community.

It also caused the skyscrapers in Dubai and Bahrain to sway.

Iran's Red Crescent said it was facing a "complicated emergency situation" in the area with villages scattered over desolate hills and valleys.

Iran's semiofficial ISNA news agency and others described the quake, measured at least magnitude 7.7, as the strongest quake in more than 50 years.

It also was the second deadly quake to hit Iran in less than a week after a magnitude 6.1 temblor struck near Bushehr, on Iran's Persian Gulf coast, killing at least 37 people and raising calls for greater international safety inspectors at Iran's lone nuclear reactor nearby.

Iran's state TV said the quake was centred near Saravan, about 48 kilometres from the Pakistani border.

A previous report citing the country's seismological centre placed the strength at magnitude 7.5, but it was apparently revised upward. The US Geological Survey put the preliminary magnitude at 7.8 and at a depth of 15.2 kilometres.

The quake was felt over a vast area from New Delhi to Gulf cities that have some of the world's tallest skyscrapers, including the record 828-metre Burj Khalifa in Dubai. Officials ordered temporary evacuations from some high-rises as a precaution.

A resident in the quake zone, Manouchehr Karimi, told The Associated Press by phone that "the quake period was long" and occurred "when many people were at home to take a midday nap".

Pakistani news channels showed buildings shaking in the southern city of Karachi, where people in panic came out from offices and homes.

There was no immediate word on any damage and people were seen standing outside their homes and offices even minutes after the quack rattled various parts of the country, although reports say five people have been killed.

"We have received five dead bodies," Ashraf Baloch, a hospital official, told AFP by telephone from Mashkail in Washuk district, around three kilometres inside Pakistan from the Iranian border.

In 2003, some 26,000 people were killed by a magnitude 6.6 quake that flattened the historic southeastern Iranian city of Bam.

Since this edition started the requests never ceased to come. The argument of the enthusiasts is that since most of the Ghanaian stars feature in Nollywood films they should be included.

15 tips for talking to women and attracting them like crazy

Many men are never taught how to talk to women. Because of this many guys go through life without the ability to attract a woman. Here are 15 tips to help make sure you aren’t making mistakes with the women you’d like to attract:

1. You should talk about “emotional” topics like childhood memories, future ambitions, or her passions. These conversation topics will open up her emotional floodgates.

2. Women want a guy who is not afraid to lead her. While talking to a woman take control of the conversation. Never wait for her to dictate what you’ll be talking about.

3. Pay attention to the non-verbal cues a woman is giving you. If you’re standing too close to her, accidentally spitting when you talk, or making her feel uncomfortable in any way… she will send you hints. Pay attention to them.

4. Remember this motto “Fun not Funny.” Women are attracted to men who allow them to have fun. Don’t concentrate on having the funniest jokes. Concentrate on showing them the most excitement and enjoyment.

5. Tease women. One of the easiest ways to take a conversation to a fun and flirty level is to begin to tease women. Think back to your time on the playground. In the world of dating… what worked on the playground is effective all over again.

6. Get intimate with her. Women are turned on by men who are not afraid to take a conversation to a personal, intimate level.

7. Use things like “cold reads” to turn women on. Women love to hear opinions about themselves. Tell her what you observe about her.

8. Avoid complimenting a woman too much. Women are turned off by men who come across as “needy.” If you are complimenting a woman too much she will think you’re trying to impress her. Which will have the opposite effect.

9. If you want to know how to talk to women in a way that doesn’t bore them… Avoid asking too many “interview” style questions. Instead state your opinion about things.
10. Remember: Statements over questions. Instead of saying “where did you grow up?” Say “You don’t look like you grew up around here.” This allows you to make observations about her and express your personality.

11. Don’t hide your identity. Don’t be afraid to talk about whatever you’re passionate about.

12. Never compliment her on her eyes, looks, or body.
13. Say something that lets her know that you view her in a “sexual” way. If you don’t, you run the risk of winding up in the “friend zone”.

14. Use conversation “games” to keep the mood fun and flirtatious. Games can be anything like “truth or dare” or to less extreme games like the “5 questions game”.

15. Don’t give away your hand so fast. Women like men who are a challenge. If you want to keep a woman’s interest she has to feel like she is slowly winning you over. If she thinks you’re too easy… she’ll lose interest.

The best way to think about how to talk to women is to think about what kind of fun, playful, and sexual conversation you would most enjoy. Talking to a woman doesn’t have to be difficult. You just need to be aware of what they are turned on by and what turns them off. Follow the list above and you’ll do just fine.

Moyes: Big away wins key for Champions League finish

David Moyes
The Toffees boss has called on his players to start picking up results at the grounds of their top four rivals if they want to qualify for the Champions League this season.David Moyes believes Everton must show it is serious top-four contenders by winning at Arsenal for the first time during his tenure.

The Toffees sit just four points off the third-placed Gunners after a fine run of four wins from their last five Premier League fixtures. Yet, Everton has also never beaten Chelsea or Liverpool away under Moyes and its last win away to Arsenal came way back in 1996 - but the Scot is hoping to end that run on Tuesday night.

"I've told the players we will have to win one of these big games away from home if we are going to get into Europe," Moyes is quoted as saying by The Guardian. "For the Champions League it may have to be more than one. We are trying to break new ground."

Meanwhile, defender Phil Jagielka accepts the criticism thrown at Everton for its poor away record against the league's top sides - but insists all is not lost if the club fails to win at the Emirates Stadium.

"You couldn't argue against that and say they are wrong because unfortunately we haven't turned up in some really big games," he told reporters.

He added, "That's the challenge now. There is only one way to change that. But if we don't come away from Arsenal with a win we still can't regard it as a negative. We are going to keep kicking on and kicking on."

Jagielka highlighted Everton's FA Cup quarterfinal loss at home to Wigan as a possible turning point in the club's season.

"I watched the Wigan game [while injured] and the boys were not horrific, but for five minutes of the game we were absolutely blown away. Then we couldn't find a goal that would have got us back in it. You have these sorts of games unfortunately," he explained.

"It has happened in a few of our bigger games in the last couple of years and we would like nothing better than to lay that to rest at the Emirates. But it is not always as easy as that.

Real Madrid plan move for £15m Manchester United target

Julian Draxler
Manchester United have reportedly been joined by Real Madrid in pursuit of Schalke teenager Julian Draxler, with both clubs keen to capture the young midfielder in the summer transfer window.

According to talkSPORT, both clubs are monitoring the situation of Draxler, and Real Madrid are now considering making a formal approach for the £15 million-rated Germany international.

Schalke hope to convince Draxler to commit his future to the club beyond the terms of his current deal, which expires in 2016, although Real Madrid could test the Bundesliga club's resolve to keep the player when the transfer window opens.

Draxler, 19, has scored 11 goals in all competitions for Schalke this season, while he has contributed five assists, and the youngster has the ability to bring an added creative dimension to the respective midfields of Manchester United and Real Madrid.

Manchester United are reported to have outlined the acquisition of midfield reinforcements as a summer priority with Paul Scholes seemingly likely to end his Old Trafford career for a second time.

Along with Draxler, Sir Alex Ferguson has also been linked with Benfican's Nemanja Matic - previously of Chelsea - and the Manchester United boss may be tempered to sign a more experienced player than the former to replace Scholes.

United are reported to have already made an initial enquiry as to the potential availability of Matic, 24, at the end of the season, although they could find the valuation of the Serbian prohibitive to any proposed deal.

Champions League semi-finalists: In profile

Christiano Ronaldo
Although English interest died out in the quarter-finals of this season’s Champions League, there is still plenty of mouth-watering action for fans to sink their teeth in to.

The semi-finals managed to set up a potential El Classico final or a all-German clash between rivals Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich. Only a fool would try to predict a winner.

We do our best by running the rule over the four remaining clubs.

The Dark horses | Borussia Dortmund

German outfit Borussia Dortmund may have booked their spot in the last 4 of the world's most prestigious tournament but they look the weakest among the 4 semi-finalists, with the black-and-yellow needing 2 late goals to overcome Malaga.

The Black & Yellows have had a relatively easy run in the knockout stages having faced Shakhtar Donetsk and Malaga but they came through an incredibly tough group unbeaten as winners. Real Madrid, Manchester City and Ajax have all fallen at the hands of this German freight train.

Dortmund might boast the likes of Marco Reus, Mario Gotze and Robert Lewandowski, however, their players do not have the experience in Europe. Still, for a young side like theirs, be sure to look out for them in the coming seasons.

The gate-crashers | Bayern Munich

These German giants are no pushovers and are on course for a famous treble. Munich, led by dangerous wingmen Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery, will want to make amends for last season's failure to lift the Champions League trophy. They have already romped to victory in their domestic league in record time and currently sit 20-points clear of their nearest rival, Borussia Dortmund. They have knocked out Arsenal and Juventus on their way to the semi-finals and have shown no signs of tiring.

After coming within minutes of the trophy last season and looking even stronger you can see Bayern Munich crashing an all-Spanish final.

The nine-time champions | Real Madrid

Cristiano Ronaldo will definitely be the man to watch as Jose Mourinho looks to guide the to the long awaited Decima. Ronaldo has had another sensational season scoring over 40 goals and currently leading the goal-scoring charts in the competition. The talisman of Los Blancos deserves to win a Champions League with the club. With Champions League specialist, Jose Mourinho vying to become the first man to win the Champions League with three different clubs, only a fool would write them off.

The favourites | Barcelona

Undeniably, Lionel Messi and co are the favourites to win the Champions League title. They may have lost to Celtic and AC Milan this season but they are still showing signs of being the dominant team in Europe.

They have come close to being eliminated in both their knockout ties against AC Milan and PSG but they showed class and character to qualify for another semi-final.

A team filled with world-class players that only get better when the going gets tough. Of course, the other three teams will do all they can to stop Barcelona but can anyone stop Lionel Messi from guiding Barcelona to their third Champions League crown in five year? We’re not so sure.

Petr Cech facing uncertain Chelsea future

Peter Cech
Since joining Chelsea in 2004, Cech has been through quite a roller coaster ride.He won the Premier League twice in succession under Jose Mourinho, then suffered a life threatening injury to his head in 2006 against Reading.

In 2008 he saved a penalty from Cristiano Ronaldo in the Champions League final, but lost to Manchester United in Moscow. Winning the Premier League again in 2009/10, and the Champions League finally in 2012 against Bayern Munich.

Cech has won the Premier League Golden Glove with a record 21 clean sheets in a season, and currently has 139 clean sheets for Chelsea in the Premier League. He has 100 caps for the Czech Republic and has played 421 (and one as a substitute) for Chelsea. Currently with Ross Turnbull and Henrique Hilario under him, he has been the undisputed number one keeper.

With worries over a life threatening injury sustained in 2006, there were fears that Cech wouldn't be able to return to the form he had displayed before.

Cech returned in 2007 against Liverpool wearing a Rugby head guard made especially for him by Canterbury of New Zealand.

Since then he has returned to amazing form, and has captained Chelsea during the absence of John Terry and Frank Lampard.

His recent performances specifically against Manchester United in the FA Cup sixth round have been truly amazing.

In the 2012 Champions League final he saved a penalty from Arjen Robben and helped Chelsea to win 4-3 on penalties. But he has made some silly mistakes, coming out of goal allowing open nets for strikers to capitalise on, and a red card against Wigan for tripping Hugo Rodallega, which could be interpreted both ways.

Other mistakes such as in the 2007 League Cup final against Tottenham Hotspur cost Chelsea the cup after parrying the ball towards Jonathan Woodgate who scored the winning header.

Other games such as the FIFA Club World Cup final against Corinthians, Cech came out of his goal when he didn't need to, allowing Paolo Guerrero to head in the only goal of the game.

With up and coming talents such as Thibaut Courtois returning from loan at Atletico Madrid, it makes you wonder how much longer Cech will get to wear the Number 1 shirt and start as many games as he currently does for Chelsea.

In my mind Cech is still a fantastic keeper, his performances have been outstanding with a few mistakes, which every player makes in their career but with Courtois showing fine form in La Liga Cech could be pushed off the team sheet for the first-time in his Chelsea career.

Scientists—Mankind Has 1,000 Years To Escape Earth

Stephen Hawking
Renowned British physicist Stephen Hawking warns human beings won’t survive "without escaping from the fragile" planet. His gloomy forecast is people will become extinct on Earth within current the millennium.

Speaking at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles the 71-year-old scientist called for further exploration of space to guarantee the future of mankind, the Belfast Telegraph reports.

"We must continue to go into space for humanity. If you understand how the universe operates, you control it in a way," Professor Hawking said, adding that "we won't survive another 1,000 years without escaping our fragile planet."

Space exploration has however been struggling with the global financial crisis and has too proven subject to spending cuts. In particular NASA's planetary science budget, which is seen as crucial to finding habitable planets, was slashed by $300 million this year.

At the same time, the Mars race has not been abandoned.

On Monday NASA concluded from Curiosity Rover’s findings that the red planet is gradually turning cold after losing a large part of its original atmosphere.

Russia, in its turn, has signed a deal with the European Space Agency to become a full-fledged partner in the ExoMars project, a new attempt to discover if there is life on Mars and eventually send a manned mission there.
In 2010 and 2011, the Mars-500 experiment was carried out in Moscow: a group of six volunteers were locked inside a simulated spacecraft for 520 days – the time it would take to make a round trip to the planet.

Back at the LA Medical Center, Hawking was touring a stem cell lab, which is focused on trying to slow the progression of Lou Gehrig's disease, also known as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

He’s been suffering the incurable ailment, which attacks nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord that control the muscles, for 50 years.

Director of Cedars-Sinai's ALS program, Dr. Robert Baloh, has admitted that he is unable to explain Hawking’s longevity, because people rarely live more than a dozen years with this diagnosis.

"But 50 years is unusual, to say the least," Baloh said.

Hawking was diagnosed with the neurological disorder while a student at Cambridge University at the age of 21. He is confined to a wheelchair and needs permanent assistance.

The only movement he is able to do on his own is to twitch the cheek. He communicates with the rest of the world by means of the built-in wheelchair computer, which conveys the owner’s thoughts by a monotonous robot’s voice.

"However difficult life may seem, there is always something you can do and succeed at," Hawking added speaking of dealing with his health condition.

Despite his grave diagnosis, Professor Hawking has remained active. In 2007, he floated like an astronaut on an aircraft that creates zero-gravity by making parabolic dives.
Hawking spent his career on decoding the Universe, working on black holes and the origin of matter.

The Professor brought his esoteric physics concepts to the masses through his books, including "A Brief History of Time" published in 1988, which was sold 10 million copies worldwide.

Champions League Semis: Spanish, Germans kept apart

The prospect of an all-German or an all-Spanish European Champions League final next month remains alive after Friday’s semi-final draw.

But with the Spanish and German teams kept apart when European football’s governing body UEFA made the draw for the last four, the Wembley showpiece could just as easily feature yet another Germany-Spain clash.

Last year’s beaten finalists Bayern Munich, who have already secured the Bundesliga title, take on Spanish league leaders Barcelona.

In the other match, Borussia Dortmund will play Real Madrid, as representatives of Europe’s current dominant footballing powers go head-to-head.

Remarkably, the four semi-finalists can boast a total of 18 European titles between them.

Real lead the way with nine victories, although their last success dates back to 2002.

Their arch-rivals Barcelona and Bayern both have four and Borussia weigh in with their single victory in 1997 when they upset favourites Juventus 3-1 in the final.

Neutral fans were probably hoping for a Bayern v Barcelona final, promising a feast of football between arguably the continent’s two top teams of the moment.

The semi-final is given added piquancy in that former Barca coach Pep Guardiola is to take over the helm at Munich’s Allianz Arena next year.

But Jupp Heynckes, the man he is to replace, will have reason enough of his own for wanting to reach the final — and not simply in order to bow out on a winning note in London.

He will no doubt also be hoping that Real win through to the Wembley showdown, as a fitting way to bring down the curtain on his long and distinguished coaching career against the side he led to the European crown in in 1998, bringing the Madrid giants their first title in the competition in more than 30 years.

Bayern, having comprehensively dispatched Juventus in the last round, again have home advantage first but are unlikely to find the Barca defence as porous as the Italians, who shipped four goals without reply over the two legs.

However, if they are to reach their third final in four years, Bayern will have to do so without the services of leading scorer Mario Mandzukic, who is suspended for the first leg.

Barcelona, in their sixth semi-fial in as many years, showed just how reliant they are on World Footballer of the Year Lionel Messi in their hard-fought quarter-final triumph over Paris Saint Germain, eventually prevailing on away goals.

But they needed the less-than-fully-fit Messi to come off the bench in the second leg in Barcelona to orchestrate the equaliser on the night that saw them through.

Jose Mourinho’s Real are unlikely to relish the thought of another trip to Dortmund in this season’s competition.

In the group stages, the Germans overran Real 2-1 and then earned a deserved 2-2 draw in Madrid to finish top of the group.

And the way Real struggled to overcome game Galatasary, losing the away leg 3-2, while Dortmund were getting the better of another Spanish side Malaga with two late goals, will doubtless set the alarm bells ringing in the Spanish capital.

There is also the little matter of the bitter memory of their last German semi-final opponents, Bayern, who beat them on penalties at the same stage of the competition last season.

The first leg matches will be played on April 23 and 24, with the return games on April 30 and May 1, with the final at Wembley stadium in London on May 25.

Manchester United hijack Chelsea move for Radamel Falcao in €55m deal

Manchester United have moved ahead of Chelsea and Real Madrid in the race to sign Atletico Madrid forward Radamel Falcao.According to Marca, the Old Trafford club have out manoeuvred their rivals from Stamford Bridge and Santiago Bernabeu to get into advanced negotiations for a €55million deal.

Falcao has long been linked with a switch to the Premier League but Chelsea were always tipped as his most likely destination, so news that Sir Alex Ferguson’s side have stepped in will come as a blow to Blues owner Roman Abramovich.

Real Madrid are also keen on signing the Colombian international but the report claims Atletico are so desperate not to sell to their rivals they have agreed to accept a price of €55million - €5million less than his buyout clause.

Manchester United’s reported involvement will come as a surprise to many as they already have a fully stocked front line.

Robin van Persie, Danny Welbeck, Javier Hernandez and Wayne Rooney look to have already fired the Red Devils to the title this season.

However, there have been doubts over the futures of Hernandez and Rooney in recent weeks, as both have been linked with moves away from Old Trafford.

Chelsea, meanwhile, were expected to be targeting Falcao due to the continued stuttering form of Fernando Torres.

This latest report would suggest that Chelsea will have to look elsewhere to reinforce their front line.

Falcao has been in terrific form once again this season, scoring 28 goals in 37 games in all competitions for Atletico.

Samsung unveils 6.3in Galaxy Mega smartphone

Samsung has unveiled the biggest smartphone to date - the Galaxy Mega, which features a 6.3in (16cm) screen.

The firm suggested its size made it ideal for watching videos or running two apps alongside each other.

Samsung helped popularise the so-called "phablet" category - in which phones approach tablet dimensions - with its original 5.3in Galaxy Note in 2011.

That proved more popular than many expected, but one analyst suggested the latest device might be a step too far.

Samsung is marketing the Android-powered handset as having a high-definition screen - however, a spokesman was unable to confirm whether it supported 720p or the "full HD" 1080p resolution.

Another South Korean firm, Pantech, currently lays claim to offering the biggest "full HD" smartphone with its 5.9in Vega No 6 which was announced in January.

China's Huawei had previously boasted having the biggest largest-screened 720p smartphone with its 6.1in Ascend Mate.

Samsung also makes the Galaxy Note 8.0, some versions of which feature an HSPA+ radio allowing it to make calls, but it marketed as a tablet with phone functionality rather than the other way round.
'Too cumbersome'

Samsung suggested that, despite its dimensions, the Galaxy Mega was still small and light enough - at 199g (0.44lb) - to fit into users' pockets and be used with one hand.

However, the firm is hedging its bets by offering a smaller 5.8in-screened version as an alternative.

Both will go on sale in May, with Europe and Russia the first regions to be offered the devices.

Tech consultancy Davies Murphy Group said that within the Android market there had been a notable shift towards people wanting to buy a single device rather than both a smartphone and tablet.

However, its principal technology analyst, Chris Green, suggested that at 6.3in it would be a "folly" for most users to swap their current handsets for the larger of the two Galaxy Megas.

"There is genuine demand for larger smartphones - the problem is at what point does a smartphone turn into a tablet," he told the BBC.

"When you've got this up against your head you'd have to argue you're using a tablet and not a smartphone - it's definitely going to compromise its functionality because it's simply too big and too cumbersome to use as a traditional telephone device.

"But ignoring the phone functionality, as far as the rest of the smart device goes it looks quite phenomenal."

Samsung was the most popular smartphone maker in 2012 accounting for 30.3% of all shipments, according to analysts at IDC.

Its rival Apple - whose largest handset has a 4in screen - came in second with a 19.1% market share.

I’m Married But Please Don’t Publish It-Nollywood Actress, Queen Nwokoye

Many still wonder why someone has to be married and hide it but for the Nollywood actress, Queen Nwokoye, her reason for keeping her marriage from public eyes might be very serious.

Hear her, “I am going to say this now, but I do not know if I would actually want you to publish it. It is that I am married! This is a crazy job; my home is where I find peace and that is why I do not like exposing it to people. This is because it is a crazy world out there and that is where I get my peace. I go home and I am treated like a wife, like a woman and I feel like a normal human being. That is why I keep it away from my job, my film life. Because I am married, when it comes to men, I stay far.”

When she was later asked how long she’s going to keep the marriage from the public, she said, “I do not like those who expose their marriages. If your home is private to you, you shut it down. But when you are through with this one you shut down your business life and try to enjoy your quiet family life.”

Then she expressed her opinion about Goldie whose marital life too was shielded from the public, “I do not blame her. I understand what she did. On the Big Brother Africa thing, for me she might have acted it. She wanted to win the money. She has a home somewhere. I do not blame her for anything she did. That was the entertainment part of her. Maybe that was why she wanted to keep her home safe from prying eyes so that she can go there, switch off her phone, her business life; that is what I do. Your home is where nobody is looking at you as a star, where you do some things and your husband says, ‘excuse me; I am the man of the house.

CBN to release more lower naira denominations soon

Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) yesterday promised to inject lower denominations of the naira so as to resolve the shortage of the currency in the economy. This decision came against the backdrop of the problem the shortage is causing in the economy.

Speaking after the Bankers Committee meeting in Abuja, Director, Banking Supervision of the CBN, Mrs Tokunbo Martins disclosed that the apex bank was aware of the problems being encountered by the people on account of shortage of the lower naira denominations in the country. According to her, the scarcity of the currency was because of the truncation of the CBN’s currency restructuring exercise.

She, however, promised that plans are under way to print more lower naira denominations. Apart from flooding the economy with the currency, the director stated that the quality of the notes to be released would be higher than the existing ones. Also, the Bankers Committee expressed worry over the fragile security on bank premises nationwide saying that the banks would support the police to curb the insecurity in Nigeria.

The bankers committee at the meeting, which was attended by the Inspector General of Police discussed extensively on the poor state of security in the banks and resolved to improve the security situation in the country as it affects the banks by collaborating with the security agencies. Besides, the bank chiefs made up of Union Bank, Diamond Bank and Citi Bank, Messers Emeka Emuwa, Dr Alex Oti and Omar Hafiz respectively, also said that the banks are planning interest rate reduction for small and medium scale enterprises.

The Chief Executive Officer of Diamond Bank, Dr Alex Oti said the committee also deliberated on structural reform in the country. Specifically, he said the committee was worried over the situation whereby the portfolio investment coming into the country was short term in nature. He noted that with massive investment in power, oil and gas, there would be long-term investment in the country with the attendant boost on the economy through. employment and income generation.

Julian Bennetts: Headline-magnet Beckham still the world's most divisive footballer

David Beckham
The superstar has attracted criticism in France following Paris Saint-Germain's draw with Barcelona while England fans have called for his reinstatement to the national team.
In England, meanwhile, there is still an element of reverence for what he has achieved during what few can deny is a stellar career.

And over the Atlantic, Beckham is still recognized as a marketing man's dream, a Brand that makes money simply by virtue of existing.Within those three disparate viewpoints lies the crux with Beckham; how do you separate what he is from what he does?

In a way that perhaps no other player has been since George Best, Beckham is 'a star' in the truest sense of the word. Not in his lifestyle of course – Beckham is the archetypal model professional – but in the element of glamor he brings to the game, that film-star presence follows him like a shadow.

His career has contained its' fair share of Hollywood moments too – that performance against Greece in qualification for the 2002 World Cup, Camp Nou in 1999 and titles in his last seasons with United, Real Madrid and LA Galaxy – but they only serve to confuse the issue. In many ways, Beckham's career already resembles a highlights reel, a montage demonstrating how he made the best of his talent.

The difficulty is that Beckham is constantly determined to add to it in a noble refusal to accept the dying of the light.Throughout it all he has maintained his child-like love for the game he plays, and it is not difficult to imagine the pleasure it will give him to run out at Camp Nou on Wednesday.

He will see it as a script already written, waiting for him to put his seal on the occasion. He has won at the Nou Camp twice before; with Manchester United in the 1999 Champions League Final, and with Real Madrid in 2003 when they ended their 20-year wait for victory at the stadium with a 2-1 success.

This gives the opportunity for a personal hat-trick, and it is far from inconceivable that he will curl home a last-gasp free-kick to steer PSG through to the semifinals.

Yet while it would be impossible to begrudge him any amount of personal satisfaction from such a moment, the ensuing hype would make it more difficult to bear.

Talk of an England recall would intensify, as would questions of whether Beckham should return for one last crack at the Premier League. We are better off without these debates; the 37-year-old has already achieved all he can in England and there is no need to tarnish his legacy.

It was hardly a surprise that Beckham reiterated he would never turn down an England call, telling CNN World Sport, "one of the reasons why I've never retired from the England team is because if there's ever an opportunity to play for them again, then I'm available.

"If there is any chance of me ever playing for my country again, I would never turn that down. Like I said, I'm almost 38 years old so the chances are very slight, but you never know."

Not for him trips to Qatar to commentate on England rather than playing for them, nor the blithe acceptance that he will never represent his country again.

Yet it is more of a surprise that the issue arose at all after his performance in that first leg against Barcelona.

A personal view is that Beckham played perfectly well during his 70 minutes on the pitch, without being outstanding. Not well enough to justify the views of those who were calling on Roy Hodgson to bring him back into the international fold, and certainly not poorly enough for L'Equipe to award him a mark of three-out-of-ten and 'Flop of the Match'.

The paper commented: 'Beckham, with the exception of two or three interesting deadballs in the first-half, never existed in this match. At 37 and after five years in the USA, the English midfielder no longer has the engine to play in a match of such intensity.'

That review is unfair, and it is hard to believe that the same comment would have been made about many other players. But headlines about Beckham generate headlines about Beckham.

In the build up to last week's Champions League quarterfinal clash between Paris Saint Germain and Barcelona, ITV presenter Adrian Chiles asked if the Spanish side's midfield would be 'starstruck by David Beckham'.

That midfield consisted of Xavi, Andres Iniesta and Sergio Busquets. Just the 61 major trophies between them, with all three of them being World and European champions.

Being star-struck isn't really in their nature.

Yet while Chiles was immediately mocked by Twitter's vituperative judges, his comment simply underlined the fact that no other footballer divides opinion like Beckham.

In France, for example, he is a busted flush, enjoying one last spell in the limelight that his performances do not really merit.

His life as a footballer is a vicious circle, in that everything he does creates more headlines, articles and television discussions that actually obscure the details of his performances and abilities.

Beckham the brand is now about the bigger picture rather than the finer details.

'One last swansong at PSG' has followed seamlessly on from 'helping to develop football in America'. Now it could be 'one last heroic return for his country'.

The minutiae of daily life – training, maintaining a healthy lifestyle and simply playing matches - has been superseded by grand themes; we see the wood rather than the tress.

Above all, this is unfair on Beckham. Few footballers have shown more dedication and made the very best of themselves as he has. It is incredibly hard not to admire him.Yet it shows above all that both he and us are trying desperately not to give something up.For Beckham it is the game that he has devoted his life to.

For us – by which, above all, I mean the media – it is the star culture that he has come to represent. Ashley Cole, Wayne Rooney, John Terry, Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard and others have all been part of it, but Beckham has been the leader, the man who blurred the lines between footballer and celebrity. He will be remembered in his pants as much as he will in his football kit.

The next generation, the one which will be spearheaded by Jack Wilshere, Tom Cleverley and Phil Jones, does not seem to contain the same type of characters.

That may change but Beckham's retirement, when it comes, will signal a subtle shift in how we view footballers in this country.

It may be that we will welcome that change, but for the present we should appreciate Beckham for what he is; a player who has made the best of himself and is still trying to do so. No matter how others have seen or portrayed him, for Beckham it has always been that simple.

With Jermaine Defoe aggravating an ongoing pelvic injury, Emmanuel Adebayor is expected to lead the line on Thursday, while Kyle Naughton is expected to make way for Kyle Walker as the bustling right back returns from suspension.

Gylfi Sigurdsson is likely to be handed a start after his late equalizer against Everton, alongside Michael Dawson who is expected to fill in for the injured Gallas and Brad Friedel who will once again come in for Hugo Lloris.

Basel was a little short of a revelation in the first leg, with Marco Strellar, Valentin Stocker and Mohamad Salah all asking a number of questions of the Tottenham rearguard. The tricky trio are all expected to start Thursday’s clash and may be joined by the experienced Alexander Frei if coach Murat Yakin elects to field two strikers on home turf.

Park Joo-Ho and Marcelo Diaz are both back in contention after returning from suspension, whilst the now-fit Cabral could claim a place in the starting 11 after his cameo at White Hart Lane.

Philipp Degen has also recovered from injury, but is unlikely to displace Salah in the starting team after the Egyptian’s sterling performance in the first leg.

Barca are in poll position to win without Messi, says Roura

Lionel Messi

The Blaugrana assistant coach says they can defeat Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League quarterfinal second leg even if their star has to miss out.Barcelona assistant coach Jordi Roura believes missing Lionel Messi would be a handicap but is confident his side can make the semifinal of the UEFA Champions League with or without the four-time defending Ballon d'Or winner.

The Argentina international picked up a hamstring injury in the first leg of the quarterfinal against Paris Saint-Germain last week, and his status for Wednesday's return leg at Camp Nou has yet to be determined.

“If Messi can't play, evidently we miss the best player in the world and that's a handicap for us, but his replacement will play well, too and we will try to win the match,” Roura said in a press conference. "If he plays, it's because there's a guarantee he can play. But we have to be patient and wait on the medical tests, which are vital to taking a final decision.

“We need to wait until tonight [Tuesday] and tomorrow to see about Messi, Pedro and Adriano. The feeling we have is positive, but we have to wait for the training sessions before we take a decision."

Roura added that he was happy with the draw in Paris and the two away goals, but thinks PSG will be just as dangerous and the Blaugrana will have to be at their best to progress.

"Every match and every team is different and every encounter between two teams is different. I like the 2-2 [draw] we got in Paris," Roura said. “We have to face Wednesday's match like a final, play a very intense game and our intention is to win this match, like all our games. We have to try to win from the off.

"I don't think PSG will change their style for this match compared to what they did in Paris. We know them well, they are dangerous on the counterattack, but we're used to these matches and these teams and this can't change our way of playing.

Champions League Quarter-final: Mourinho wary despite first-leg win

Jose Mourinho
Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho remained cautious despite his team’s 3-0 win over Galatasaray in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final.

Goals from Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Gonzalo Higuain put Real on the verge of the semi-finals.If we score a goal in Istanbul they have got to score five so the result is very good,” Mourinho told Sky Sports.

“But I’ve seen a lot of things in football so nothing can surprise me. Istanbul is a difficult place to go.
The Turkish side did not capitalise on a number of chances they created before Higuain’s goal sealed the win for Real, but Mourinho was adamant that his side could not underestimate their opposition. We played seriously,” said the former Chelsea boss. “The Spanish press were not quite so respectful towards Galatasaray but we were very respectful towards them. We knew they have a fantastic team and good strikers.

“We were defensively better than we were attacking. We could have scored more goals but the team played well.Higuain, who found the net after replacing Benzema in the 65th minute, was less cautious than his manager.
We knew the return would be very difficult and the truth is we can go there happy because 3-0 is a very favourable result,” said the Argentine striker.

Beyonce, Jay-Z Celebrate 5th Wedding Anniversary in Havana With Their Mothers

Beyonce and Jay-Z
Superstar couple Beyonce and Jay-Z celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary in style on Thursday, April 4, by taking a not-so-clandestine trip to Havana, Cuba, where their presence created such a ruckus that police had to be called in.
One night before, hip hop’s first couple dined at famous restaurant La Guarida — accompanied by both of their mothers (Tina Knowles and Gloria Carter) — on Wednesday evening, and when word spread that the music moguls were dining inside, a crowd of curious fans gathered in Center Havana.

According to the Associated Press that tagged along with the couple, fans began to shout Beyonce’s name until she finally came out on a balcony and waved.
The foursome dined on fish, chicken, black beans and rice, all Cuban creole staples, La Guarida staffers told reporters. She was beautiful, without a drop of makeup, very natural,” waitress Silvia Fernandez said. “What happened with the people was incredible.

On Thursday, their actual anniversary, the pair decided to venture through colonial Old Havana, taking in the sights behind their trademark cool shades — the “Bow Down” singer posed with school children while Jay-Z puffed away on a Cuban cigar. The impromptu trip comes amid a busy time for both music-makers. Beyonce, who recently spoke about being ”happily married” to Jay-Z in the latest issue of Vogue UK, will kick off her Mrs. Carter World Tour in Serbia on April 15.

Jay-Z, meanwhile, recently created new sports agency Roc Nation Sports in conjunction with big-time talent agency CAA, and has already signed two top-talent names in sports: Yankees superstar Robinson Cano and Giants’ wide receiver Victor Cruz.Because of my love of sports, it was a natural progression to form a company where we can help top athletes in various sports the same way we have been helping artists in the music industry for years,” he said in a statement.

The superstar, super-busy couple tied the knot on April 4, 2008, in Paris, and welcomed daughter Blue Ivy in January of last year.
