Wilfred Zaha |
The 20-year-old has set the Championship alight this year and before he was announced as a Manchester United player in January this year, he was said to be on the radars of Arsenal, Manchester City, Tottenham and Liverpool amongst others.
But before his time with Palace draws to a conclusion, having been there since he was a young boy, the Ivory Coast born winger has his eyes firmly set on catapulting the Eagles into the top-flight reported the Peoples Person.
Speaking to FourFourTwo, Zaha said: “I’ve been here for so many years – the good times and the rough ones – so it would be huge.
“To see the club go up would be an amazing climax to my time before joining Manchester United in the summer.”
In recent years, United have boasted perhaps the most impressive arsenal of talent on the wings the Premier League has ever seen and Zaha is keen to add his name to the list which features the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Nani and Antonio Valencia.
And the tricky winger is ready to unleash his skills on defences in the Premier League, admitting that taking a defender on is something that comes naturally to him without much thought.
“I love going one-on-one with defenders and using my pace and trickery,” continued Zaha.
“I don’t really think about it too much – if I’ve got the ball at my feet it just happens. If I get past them, great; if I don’t then I’ll just try again.”
Despite the praise that his been heaped on him this season, Zaha maintains a level head and still insists there are areas of his game that need improvement.
“I’d like to master the timing of my runs and finishing. Ian Holloway has been working with me a lot on getting in front of the defender and breaking to the back post.”
Sir Alex Ferguson has taken plenty of talented youngsters under his wing over the years and turned them into phenomenal footballers. Cristiano Ronaldo is the shining example of that.
Having impressed with the England U21s squad (check out his superb goal for them here), Zaha earned his full senior debut this season too and his progression over the past 12 months has been phenomenal.
But hopefully it is just the tip of the iceberg. With the training and staff at Carrington available to him, there’s no reason he cannot become one of the worlds best wingers.
