Everton 2 Manchester City 0

LEON OSMAN and Nikica Jelavic fired the goals that dealt a crushing blow to Manchester City’s already remote title hopes.

Midfielder Osman, 31, curled home from the edge of the area on 32 minutes to leave Joe Hart rooted to the spot.
And striker Jelavic ended a personal goal drought with a second in injury time — after Everton had played the last 30 minutes with 10 men following Steven Pienaar's red card.
It meant a well-deserved victory for Toffees boss David Moyes, celebrating 11 years in charge at Goodison Park.
And the Scot, who has something of a hex over opposite number Roberto Mancini, will have taken heart from his side’s response to their humbling FA Cup exit at the hands of Wigan.
Everton could have been in front as early as the 14th minute when Kevin Mirallas had a rasping drive ruled out for offside.

The call was marginal.
But there was no doubt about Osman’s strike, a sumptous curling effort from the edge of the penalty area with the outside of the boot.

Everton had to fight hard for the win, especially after Steven Pienaar saw red in the 62nd minute for a second yellow.
City failed to make the extra man count, with Moyes’ men their equals right up until the final whistle

Mancini will surely fume after a late handball by Marouane Fellaini was deemed outside the box — despite being a yard inside.
And Jelavic was on hand to double their misery with an injury time strike — his first league goal in 2013 — that sent Goodison into raptures.
